Weekly News Update 9/27

In late season races, GCTri is still dominating!  At the Great Six Flags Triathlon we had some awesome finishes: Olympic – Dave Calabrese (10 OA, 2nd AG – 2:23), Mike Satz (3rd AG – 2:28), Brian Wiest (2nd AG – 2:30), Mark Tsigounis (4th AG – 2:35).  Sprint distance – Lauren Wiest (3rd OA Female – 1:33).  Congrats on an awesome race.  Hope you enjoyed some post- race roller coasters. 

Good luck to our team members racing Westchester Triathlon this weekend.

On Saturday, Mike Haskell is leading a “Muffin Ride” to the Runcible Spoon in Nyack that will depart the 14th st. pier at 8:30am.  This will be approximately 50mi round trip at an easy pace and no cyclist will be dropped.  The Tuesday morning track workouts will continue at least up to the NYC Marathon.  Happy Training.

Weekly News Update 9/20

We had more great race results for our very talented GCTri club members last weekend!  At Buckman Sprint we had Glenn Hartrick (1st OA – 1:11), Juan Carlos Buenano (1:28);  LBI Sprint Triathlon: Dave Cruz (1st OA – 50:34), Lisa Mangino (2nd AG – 1:06); Philadelphia R&R Half Marathon – Jenny Zarzuela (2:20); Westport YMCA Sprint – Heather Cameron (2nd AG – 50:30); One more Tri: Mike Frank (6th OA, 2nd Masters -1:07).  Nicole Ogrosso competed at ITU World Championships in London!

Weekly News Update 9/13

We had more great race results for our very talented GCTri club members last weekend!  At Shoreman Half: Rich Miani (5:07 – 5th AG), Dave Pietrangelo (5:13 – 4th AG), Maria Wedgeworth (5:22 – 1st AG), Mike Frank (5:30); Pascack Valley Sprint: Glenn Hartrick (1st OA);  Toughman: Raphael Zagury (4:56 – 7th AG),  Jen Sheppard (5:22 – 4th OA Female, 1st AG), Cheryl Tarbous (6:36), Mark Tsigounis (5:01- 1st Div), Gran Fondo NJ: Dave Doherty, Jim Englert & John Argueta competed.  

Best wishes to Nicole Ogrosso at ITU World Championships in London!  Good luck to our team members racing the LBI Sprint, One More Tri, Trifitness Westport Sprint, Philly Rock & Roll Half Marathon and any other races this weekend. Crush it!

We have a couple options for rides this weekend.  Andrew Corcione will be leading a 60mi ride that will depart 14th St. Pier at 7am on Saturday. If you are looking for a more  friendly paced “muffin” ride, Mike Haskell will be departing the pier at 8:30am on Saturday heading to Piermont.  If you are riding with the group on Thursday mornings, blinking lights are mandatory for your safety – it’s dark out there.  Happy Training!

Weekly News Update 9/6

GCTri rocked the podium again last weekend.  At the Lake George Triathlon: Kevin Portmann (2nd OA, 1st AG), Nicole Ogrosso (4th OA female, 1st AG), Carsten Hansen (24th OA, 5th AG).  Good luck to our team members racing Shoreman, Toughman, Gran Fondo NJ, NY Aquarium Triple Dip and any other races this weekend. 

We have a couple options for rides this weekend.  Lisa Mangino will be leading a 3 hr ride that will depart 14th St. Pier at 7am on Saturday. RJ Boergers will be leading a ride to Piermont (~50mi) on Sunday that will depart the 14th St. Pier at 8am.  Please note that the Tuesday AM rides have been cancelled for the remainder of the year.  If you are riding with the group on Thursday mornings, blinking lights are mandatory for your safety.  Happy Training!

GCTri rocked the racing circuit again last week!  Congrats to all of our team members who raced:  At the West Point Triathlon Kevin Portmann took 2nd Overall; at War at the Shore short course we had: Glenn Hartrick 1st OA (51:00), Dave Calabrese (1st AG, 56:00), Nicole Ogrosso (2nd OA female, 1:00), Brad Roberts (3rd AG, 1:04), Lauren Wiest (1st AG, 1:05), Roberto Scarpati (2nd Div, 1:08), Kristen Mulgrew (2nd AG, 1:10), Sara Press (4th AG, 1:14), Jenny Zarzuela (2nd Div, 1:26); at War at the Shore Long Course we had: Raphael Zagury (5th OA, 2nd AG – 1:39), Mike Satz (4th AG, 1:44); at Timberman Sprint, Dave Cruz took 4th OA, 1st AG- 1:07); at IRONMAN Timberman 70.3 we had: Cristian Gonzalez (4:34 – earning  a spot at 70.3 World Championships), Carsten Hansen (4:53), RJ Boergers (5:15), Derek Barnes (5:24), Jared Manks (5:29), Jim Englert (5:42), Nicci Schock (5:45),  Lisa Mangino (6:11), Rebecca Gauthier (6:40). Weekly News Update 8/2

Congratulations to GCTri members who competed at IRONMAN Lake Placid (one of our club designated races).  We finished 2nd out of 14 teams in Division III in the TriClub Challenge. This Saturday we have a couple options for rides: RJ will be leading a 60mi ride (~18mph avg) to Nyack that will leave the 14th St. Pier at 7am.  John Argueta and Nicci Schock will be leading a 30 mile (Newbie friendly ~14mph avg) ride that will depart from Weehawken Track at 8am.  Happy Training!
