Remember, please post your results on the website after you race –  http://www.gctri.org/race-results/submit-results/

Today is the last day to take advantage of our team discount code from RoadID.  We strongly encourage you to purchase one for a little added safety while you train.  The discount code can be found in the members only section of the website – http://www.gctri.org/members-2/club-discounts/

Tomorrow (Saturday 3/22) we have some great club events planned.  At 4pm at Symposia Community Bookstore, the Athlete Education Committee will be hosting a Gear Clinic.  Stop by to know what you need to have for the upcoming race season.  Around 5 or 5:30pm (after the gear clinic), we will be heading over to Moran’s for the March Social.  Come by and meet some of our tri members when they aren’t in spandex.

There are no official club rides planned for this weekend.  Please feel free to use the Facebook group to get some people together if you want to get outside and ride.  Keep a close watch on the club calendar because the Track Workouts are scheduled to start next Tuesday.  We hope you can join us for some training sessions.

Weekly Newsletter 1/31/14

I’ve reached out to our typical ride leaders to see if anyone would be riding this weekend, but it seems like most people will be riding indoors despite the fact that the weather looks pretty good.  If you’re looking for ride partners feel free to post a ride on the club calendar or FB group and see who shows up.

Mark your calendars – the February social is scheduled for Saturday February 22nd at 4pm at Moran’s.  Please RSVP on the club calendar or the FB group.  We are hoping to offer the first presentation of the Athlete Education Series in February.  Please keep an eye out for upcoming information.

Lastly, we encourage you to pay your 2014 membership dues before your account expires.  This can be done on the website.

Weekly Update 11/1

Congratulations to our team members who raced IRONMAN Miami 70.3 last weekend: Kevin Portmann finished an amazing year qualifying for World Championships after his 4:25 performance & Mike Satz finished in 5:15.  Rich Bean took 2nd AG in the Mountain Man Biathlon (1:22).

Good luck to all of our GCTri members who are running the ING NYC Marathon this weekend.

Hincapie gear has arrived!  Stop by our sponsor Fleet Feet of Hoboken during store hours to pick up your gear.  If you missed the order we plan on placing another in early spring 2014 and we will be getting the fit kits so you can check out the sizing.

Reminder that next Saturday 11/9 there will be a Foam Rolling/Stretching Clinic at Mile Square Physical Therapy and we will also be having the November social at Moran’s.  See the club calendar for full details.

The dessert series continues!  On Saturday Mike Haskell and RJ Boergers are leading a ride to the Runcible Spoon in Nyack departing the 14th st. pier at 9am (it will be at a friendly pace).  On Sunday, it is likely that Kristine Papamichael will be leading a ride to state line – departure time TBD – keep an eye on facebook and club calendar.

Weekly News Update 10/18

Amazing job by Matt Bach (9:59) and Mark Tsigounis (11:21) at IRONMAN World Championships at Kona!  Jenny Zarzuela competed at the Women’s Perfect Ten (1:42); At Steamtown Marathon Nicci Schock PR’d (3:46), Andrew Corcione (3:55); At Rev3 Half-Full Dave Cruz crushed it (2nd OA – 4:23).  Great efforts all!

Goodbye and good luck to our weekday ride leader – Andre Preotesa (he’s moving to the suburbs).  With Andre’s departure we are in desperate need of a weekday ride leader for next year (typically April through September).  At a minimum we plan on offering 1 morning ride but the past couple years we were fortunate to have Tuesday and Thursday morning rides.  Let the BOD know if you’d like to get more involved.

We are having the October Club social tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm at Moran’s Pub in Hoboken.  Stop by and enjoy the good company of fellow club members without the spandex.

On Saturday Andrew Corcione and Mike Haskell are leading a ride to State Line departing the 14th st. pier at 8am (it will be at a friendly pace).  On Sunday, John Argueta will be riding to state line – departure time TBD – keep an eye on facebook and club calendar.

Weekly News Update 10/4

Congrats to our team members who raced last weekend.  We had Dave Doherty (4:47) at Montauk Mighty Man; and Danielle Rossi (3:52) at Westchester. Great job!

This weekend we have a couple options for group rides.  On Saturday, Mike Satz will be departing at 7:30am for State Line.  Also on Saturday, Kristine Papamichael will be departing at 9:00am for Piermont or Nyack.  Keep an eye on the club calendar to see if a ride gets added for Sunday.

Did you know about the bike maintenance clinic on Saturday 10/12 at 11:30am?  We will head out that morning for a short ride and then come back for the clinic.  Please sign up on the club calendar and let us know if you are coming!  We may even stream IRONMAN Kona in hopes of catching a glimpse of Matt Bach or Mark Tsigounis.

Important upcoming events: October 19th – Club social @ 4 pm – location TBD; November 9th – Club social (this will be a planning meeting – let us know if you would like to run for a leadership position for 2014); December 6th – Club Holiday Party at Northern Soul bar.
