Hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays!

This Saturday is looking like a nice day to ride outside and a few people showed interest in going. However, with many of our ride leaders away for the holidays, we do not have a group ride planned. If you plan to ride, please post to the Facebook page and the club calendar!

There is yoga scheduled at Devotion Yoga this Tuesday (12/30) at 8pm. Please sign up on the Doodle Poll – http://doodle.com/gw7qv89gnd58scn5sgkics8f/admin#table
If you have already replied yes and cannot make it, you must change your response on the Doodle Poll. The class will be cancelled if there are not enough participants.

Tuesday morning hill repeats continue next week. We meet at the Castle Point Gate on the Stevens campus (end of 6th Street or top of the stairs from Sinatra) at 6am.

Come start the new year off right, with your favorite tri club, at our annual New Years Day 100x100s! Meet at the track for a 2:00pm start. If you want to run with us to the track, meet at 11th & Park at 1:45pm.

Save the date: the club kickoff social will be held on Saturday 1/17 at 4PM at Morans Pub (501 Garden Street). We will have raffle prizes and kick off another great season together!

Finally, don’t forget to pay your 2015 membership dues: http://www.gctri.org/merchandise/
All 2014 memberships are set to expire 1/31/15. Our policy states that the Facebook group will only be available to paying members, our sponsors, and husbands/wives of paying members as of 1/31/15 – all others will be dropped. So, please, renew ASAP! We will be giving out GCTri water bottles at the Kickoff Social as your membership gift this year.

Have a very safe and happy New Year!

Congrats to our competitors last weekend. At Empire State Marathon – Mike Menter (3:08); At Runners World Half Marathon – Lauren Kruk (1:41). Good luck to Gabe Rasure at IRONMAN Miami 70.3 this weekend and anyone else who might be racing.

If you would like to purchase a team uniform (race kit or cycling gear) the time is NOW. We are only planning on doing this once for the year. The fit kit should be arriving from Hincapie today or tomorrow (we will notify you as soon as it is here). We will have it for approximately 1 week and it will be located over at our sponsor Fleet Feet of Hoboken. Stop in during store hours, try on items you wish to purchase and record the sizes that fit best. Jen will then coordinate through Hincapie to open the ordering portal. We should have uniforms sometime in February or March by ordering so early.

Weekend rides (all depart from 14th st ferry pier). Saturday: Maria is leading an A ride to state line (~40mi) departing at 7am. Nicole is leading a B ride to state line or Piermont departing at 8am. If you are new to the group and have been standing on the sidelines because you were worried you couldn’t keep up – now is the time to join the rides as they are much more social in nature.

It’s Kona weekend…and we’ve got some folks for you to follow! On Saturday, have fun tracking Carsten Hansen and GCTri alumni Missy Manning and Jared Tootel at the IRONMAN World Championships.

Congrats to Lauren Karstens (1:41, 2nd AG, new PR) for a great race last weekend at Jersey Shore Half Marathon. Good luck to those racing Steamtown Marathon and Staten Island Half Marathon.

Great news! We’ve re-scheduled the Tour de Defiant Brewery for Saturday 10/18. The trip will depart the 14th St. ferry pier at 10am. Lets hope we get nice weather so we can go and enjoy it!

Are you interested in ordering awesome GCTri race kits and cycling gear? Jen has ordered the Hincapie fit kit so that you can find out your appropriate sizes. Stay tuned for information pertaining to the arrival of the fit kit. We typically get it for a 1 week period and our sponsor Fleet Feet is kind enough to hold it at their Hoboken store. Simply stop in during their business hours, try stuff on and mark down your sizes. Jen will open the Hincapie ordering portal shortly thereafter. We do need to meet certain minimums so please order if you are interested.

Weekend rides: On Saturday, Raphael is leading an A+ ride leaving the 14th st. ferry pier at 7am. Nicole is leading a B ride to state line (~40mi) that departs the 14th st. ferry pier at 8:30am. Saturday looks like rain, so perhaps these will get switched to Sunday. Monday is Columbus Day and some folks may have off so please organize other rides on FB and the club calendar.

We’ve begun the planning process for the 2015 race season already. Designated club races that have been determined so far include: IM Mont Tremblant, Mont Tremblant 70.3, NJ State Olympic & Sprint. We’ve created a survey to help us determine what other races we should designate as “official club races”. I think everyone will agree, it’s always more fun to race with your friends. Please fill out the attached survey so we can make some other good choices for club races. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1HostOsUpYKIpx9MlObDTZ6E0Rbr-IF9sUB58tjw_ME4/viewform?usp=send_form

GCTri’s talented athletes were at it again last weekend! There were many great race times had at the 2N’s 5k Anything is Possible Race (at South Mountain and from many virtual locations). Even better than the race times, was the fact that we were out there supporting our good friend and teammate Glenn Hartrick as he continues his recovery. Congrats to Diane Berry, Deirdre McGuinness (2nd AG), and Tom Porrovechio for a job well done at the Six Flags Triathlon. Good luck to those racing this weekend at Toughman, Gran Fondo NJ, IRONGirl, & Skylands Triathlon. Best wishes to Kevin Portmann and Cristian Gonzalez on strong races at IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships!

Mark your calendars! The September social is scheduled for Thursday 9/18 @ 7:30pm. As we get closer we will announce the location (if it’s nice, hopefully we will be outside).

IRONMAN Princeton 70.3 is just around the corner. We hope to have another huge cheering section to support the over 20 team members that will be competing. Bring your favorite cowbell. We will be having a huge picnic after the race. Please sign up and let us know what you will be bringing for the big post-race bash. Picnic Sign up

There are a couple options for you this weekend for rides. On Saturday Jared is leading a 56mi course preview for the Princeton 70.3. The group will be meeting at Mercer County park at 8am. Also on Saturday, RJ will be leading a 40mi “B ride” to State Line (or possibly to the Filling Station for a muffin). This ride departs the 14th St. Pier at 8am. If you haven’t made it to the track workouts yet – you are missing a great opportunity to get faster! Thursday morning rides are still going, but front and rear lights are mandatory for safety since sunrise is much later now. Happy Training!
