Weekly Newsletter 8/8/14

Congrats to all of our teammates who raced last weekend! Good luck to our teammates racing the Belmar Ocean Mile Swim and any other races this weekend.

We’ve got some big races coming up – do you have all your GCTri gear ready? We still have some t-shirts ($15) & track jackets, and just got a whole new shipment of yellow visors ($15). Send RJ an email and let him know what you need.

We’ve got a couple options for rides & runs this weekend. On Saturday: at 6:30am RJ is leading a 75mi “A” ride past Rockland Lake departing from 14th st pier; at 8am Jared is leading a Princeton 70.3 bike course preview (meet near the parking lot from NJ State Tri); at 8am Nicci is leading a 30mi “C” ride departing from 14th st pier. On Sunday, Mike Satz is leading a 10mi run (8:30 pace) that will depart pier A at 7:30am.

Planning for 2015 is in the works already.  Seems like IRONMAN Mont Tremblant and Mont Tremblant 70.3 will be some of the designated club races.  Stay tuned for more information about sign up dates.

Here’s the deal for weekend rides:  Saturday – RJ is leading an A ride 65mi to Rockland Lake and Meredith is leading a 45mi B/C ride.  Both the rides will depart the 14th St. Ferry Pier at 7am.  If you’d like to ride Sunday please use the FB group to organize.  Happy Training!

Some things never change….once again GCTri was all over the podium this past weekend.  Congrats to our teammates that competed.  At the Coney Island Aquathlon we had: Heather Cameron (1:07, 3rd Female OA, 1st AG), Cheryl Wickham (1:36, 2nd AG); At War at the Shore we had: Jenny Zarzuela (1:20, 2nd Athena); at Double-Mussel: Maria Wedgeworth (7:14, 4th Female [1:27 Sprint, 2nd AG; 5:47 Half]), RJ Boergers (6:59 [1:24 Sprint, 5:34 Half]); Steelman 3.2mi OWS: Nicole Ogrosso(1:24);  at Toronto Triathlon Festival Olympic: Jared Lando (2:29), Laura Muzzatti (3:03). Weekly Newsletter 7/11/14

GCTri looks to continue our strong 2014 racing campaign this weekend!  Good luck to our teammates racing Coney Island Aquathon, Musselman, Steelman OWS, War at the Shore and Toronto Triathlon Festival.  Good luck to our team on Tuesday July 15th at the Party With Purpose 5k (you can still sign up and help us show Hoboken how much we rock).

Did you hear the good news?  Jared Lando and Laura Muzzatti got engaged.  Congrats to a great GCtri couple.

We need more cow bell!!!  NJ State Triathlon is the weekend of July 19th (sprint)/20th (Olympic).  Kelly Calabrese and I are leading the official GCTri fanclub – “Coasty’s Crusaders” and we need your help making some noise!  This year GCTri is combining forces with MAPSO and Team Philly Pro Tri and are racing for Team 2N’s in support of our good friend Glenn Hartrick.  Let’s make Glenn proud and everyone go out and get a PR!!!  This year we will have a team port-o-john, and we will also be bringing the tent and a changing tent (new this year) for an awesome post-race picnic!  If you haven’t already signed up for the picnic, please see Nicci’s spreadsheet and let us know what you will be bringing- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13zqmkhLS732k2XC6uq_T_ZHL7YG7jKNwsAOKqJZuqNU/edit#gid=0

The weather looks fantastic for training.  We’ve got a couple options for rides for you.  All rides will depart the 14th St. Ferry Pier.  Saturday: Steve Su is leading an  “A ride” 80mi to Lil Tor departing at 6am; Nicci is leading a “B ride” to State Line leaving at 7:30am.  On Sunday: Diane is organizing a  “C ride” that will depart at 11am.  Lastly, Lisa Mangino and Mark Smith will be sharing their tire changing expertise at 3pm at the flagpole at Pier A.  If you don’t know how to change a flat you really should go to this!  Happy Training.

We had yet another successful weekend of racing last weekend!  Here’s how our teammates fared in their races: IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene – Cristian Gonzalez (10:06), Sean Cercone (12:07); Avalon Islandman Triathlon- Steve Ostrander (1:17); Challenge AC Full- Jared Lando (11:37), Mike Frank (12:34), Ed Friedrich (14:48); Challenge AC Aquabike – Jen Sheppard (6:41, 2nd Female), Rich Miani (7:01), Dave Pietrangelo (7:08), Pete Cancila (7:20), Steve  “Shooter” Rosselli (8:24), Cheryl Tuosto (9:52); Challenge AC Relays – Danielle Rossi and Alminda Brundyn competed. Bald Bear Triathlon – Lauren Kruk (2:07, 3rd AG); Lincoln Park Triathlon – Tom Porrovecchio (1:31), Deirdre McGuinness (1:21), Diane Berry (1:22), Cheryl Wickham (1:39 – 1st ever triathlon); Toughkids Tri – Reese Frank (9:48, 1st Female – first tri ever). Holiday weekend means extra training opportunities – however seems like lots of people will be away!  Reminder -All rides will depart the 14th St. Ferry Pier.  Friday – Nicole & Shooter are leading an 80mi “A” ride departing at 7am. There were no scheduled rides for Saturday & Sunday – please use the FB group to get some rides together.  Please ride safely!

We had an abundance of podium finishes for our talented team this past weekend.  Wyckoff Sprint – Marc Hourican (1:46), Matt Vella (1:53), Des Johnson (1:57), Lisa Mangino (2:01), Kristen Mulgrew (2:08), Sara Press (2:11), Wallyman Sprint – Nicole Ogrosso (1:19 1st OA), Derek Barnes (1:26, 1st AG), Diane Berry (2:02, 1st AG); Wallyman Olympic- Jen Sheppard (2:26, 2nd OA, 1st AG), Mike D’Imperio (2:46, 2nd AG); Tri the Village Sprint – Julie Percifield (1:28, 1st AG – qualified for USAT Oly Nationals); Tri One On Triathlon – Brian Lovato (1:45); Roughwater 1mi Swim – Dave Doherty (29:02, 1st AG).
