It’s hard not to Tri harder when we’ve got so many teammates accomplishing big things! Congrats to Eva Kovacs who completed her 24th Iron distance race at Challenge Weymouth taking 3rd AG…you continue to amaze us. Congrats to Michael Zadroga for his finish at One More Tri (1:08), and to Derek Barens for his finish at Queens Half Marathon (1:35). Good luck to our teammates racing Little Red Lighthouse Swim, Newport Jersey City Half Marathon, IRONMAN Maryland and IRONMAN Princeton 70.3.

We’ve got 2 really cool events coming up that you will want to add to your calendar. On Saturday 10/4 we will be riding up to Defiant Brewery for a little bike and brew. Thankfully we can take the NJ Transit trains home. Also, we just added a special event at Fit Werx bike shop and fit studio on Thursday October 9th at 7:30PM. If you plan on attending, you must RSVP (either on the FB invite or the club calendar) so we get an accurate head count.

For rides this weekend: on Saturday, RJ will be leading a 45mi A/B ride to Piermont departing the 14th St. Pier at 8am. Perhaps we will grab a muffin at Bunburry’s or the Filliing Station. I’d like to remind all members that everyone has the ability to add a ride to the calendar. If you aren’t happy with the ride selection, please post your ride on the club calendar or on FB and I’m sure you’ll get some company out on the ride. Happy training!

GCTri’s talented athletes were at it again last weekend! There were many great race times had at the 2N’s 5k Anything is Possible Race (at South Mountain and from many virtual locations). Even better than the race times, was the fact that we were out there supporting our good friend and teammate Glenn Hartrick as he continues his recovery. Congrats to Diane Berry, Deirdre McGuinness (2nd AG), and Tom Porrovechio for a job well done at the Six Flags Triathlon. Good luck to those racing this weekend at Toughman, Gran Fondo NJ, IRONGirl, & Skylands Triathlon. Best wishes to Kevin Portmann and Cristian Gonzalez on strong races at IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships!

Mark your calendars! The September social is scheduled for Thursday 9/18 @ 7:30pm. As we get closer we will announce the location (if it’s nice, hopefully we will be outside).

IRONMAN Princeton 70.3 is just around the corner. We hope to have another huge cheering section to support the over 20 team members that will be competing. Bring your favorite cowbell. There are a couple options for you this weekend for rides. On Saturday Jared is leading a 56mi course preview for the Princeton 70.3. The group will be meeting at Mercer County park at 8am. Also on Saturday, RJ will be leading a 40mi “B ride” to State Line (or possibly to the Filling Station for a muffin). This ride departs the 14th St. Pier at 8am. If you haven’t made it to the track workouts yet – you are missing a great opportunity to get faster! Thursday morning rides are still going, but front and rear lights are mandatory for safety since sunrise is much later now. Happy Training!

Did you hear about the Glenn Hartrick 2N’s Anything is Possible 5K??? We can use both volunteers and participants. It’s being held on Sunday August 31st (Glenn’s birthday) at Noon. Not gonna be in the area that weekend???? Here’s the cool thing – you can run it virtually (you will get a race bib and then send your results in via email – no fibbing!). I will be running in Amsterdam; can’t wait to support our friend Glenn. For more information visit – https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Millburn/GlennHartrick5K

Many of our ride leaders are participating in either the R2C relay Saturday or the NYC Tri Sunday so we don’t have any group rides posted for the weekend. Seems like Sean Cercone in interested in a ride to Toga on Sunday. Please use the FB group to organize. Happy Training.
