Weekly News Update 8/23

GCTri rocked the racing circuit again last week!  Congrats to all of our team members who raced:  At the West Point Triathlon Kevin Portmann took 2nd Overall; at War at the Shore short course we had: Glenn Hartrick 1st OA (51:00), Dave Calabrese (1st AG, 56:00), Nicole Ogrosso (2nd OA female, 1:00), Brad Roberts (3rd AG, 1:04), Lauren Wiest (1st AG, 1:05), Roberto Scarpati (2nd Div, 1:08), Kristen Mulgrew (2nd AG, 1:10), Sara Press (4th AG, 1:14), Jenny Zarzuela (2nd Div, 1:26); at War at the Shore Long Course we had: Raphael Zagury (5th OA, 2nd AG – 1:39), Mike Satz (4th AG, 1:44); at Timberman Sprint, Dave Cruz took 4th OA, 1st AG- 1:07); at IRONMAN Timberman 70.3 we had: Cristian Gonzalez (4:34 – earning  a spot at 70.3 World Championships), Carsten Hansen (4:53), RJ Boergers (5:15), Derek Barnes (5:24), Jared Manks (5:29), Jim Englert (5:42), Nicci Schock (5:45),  Lisa Mangino (6:11), Rebecca Gauthier (6:40). Weekly News Update 8/16

It was another great weekend of racing for GCTri members.  Congratulations to our team members who competed at Age Group Nationals – Olympic distance: Nicole Ogrosso (2:29), Gabby Czernik (2:21) & Jamie Brabston (2:22).  Congrats to our other racers: At the Presidential Lakes Olympic Triathlon we had Joe Borghoff (2:48); Dave Pietrangelo took 3rd Overall (1:00) at the Staten Island Triathlon.  Congratulations to Jersey City Mayor and GCTri member Steve Fulop for winning the Belmar Chase Celebrity 5K.  By winning the race, Fulop earned $2,500 for the Jersey City Recreation Department.  Remember to keep sharing your results with us on the website –  http://www.gctri.org/race-results/submit-results/

Weekly News Update 8/9

GCTri extends a warm welcome to our newest members: John Callahan, Pam Harinstein, Mark Tsigounis, Rebecca Gauthier, Roberto Scarpati & Sydney Hattan.  We hope to see you out at the group workouts, socials and races soon!

Good luck to Nicole Ogrosso, Jamie Brabston, & Gabby Czernik at Age Group Nationals in Milwaukee. Congrats to our other team members who qualified but unfortunately weren’t able to make the trip to compete.  Good luck to those racing the Belmar 1mi OWS, Staten Island Sprint Tri and any other races this weekend.

This weekend we have a couple options for rides: On Saturday RJ will be leading a 60mi ride (~18mph avg) to Nyack that will leave the 14th St. Pier at 7am.  On Sunday John Argueta will be leading a 40 mile (Newbie friendly ~14-16mph avg) ride that will depart from Weehawken Track at 7am.  Please note that we have removed some of the group training sessions due to low attendance (Wed Evening Track, Thurs Evening Tempo Run, Sunday Morning Long Run).  For full details on available training opportunities, check out the club calendar on the webpage – http://www.gctri.org/race-calendar/ Happy Training!

Weekly News Update 8/2

Congratulations to GCTri members who competed at IRONMAN Lake Placid (one of our club designated races).  We finished 2nd out of 14 teams in Division III in the TriClub Challenge. GCTri Takes 2nd in TriClub Challenge at IRONMAN Lake Placid

The very talented crew of club members racing IRONMAN Lake Placid brought home the accolades for GCTri.  The team took 2nd place out of 14 teams competing in Division III (teams with 100-150 members) of the IRONMAN TriClub Challenge.  Congratulations on your hard work!  You really make us proud!

Weekly News Update 7/25

Congratulations to GCTri members who competed at the NJ State Triathlon (one of our club designated races).  We finished 9th out of 25 in the Team Up Challenge this year for participation (really could have used Hartrick’s points).  At the Sprint Race we had: Brad Roberts, Sean Greene, John Argueta, Dani Rossi, Heather Cameron, Jenny Altagracia, Kirsten Greene, Hoda Osman; At the Olympic Race we had: Steve Su, Mike Satz, Dave Calabrese (7th AG), Matt Mustich, Gabby Czernik (2nd AG), Maria Wedgeworth, Jared Manks, Mike D’Imperio, RJ Boergers, Jamie Brabston (1st AG), Nicole Ogrosso (7th AG), Dave Pietrangelo, Cheryl Tarbous, Margaret Grandstaff, Sara Press (her triathlon debut!); At IRONMAN Racine 70.3  we had Jim Englert (6:04); At Pequannock Sprint we had Marc Hourican (7th OA, 1st AG).
