May Social

Come hang out with other members of GCTri while not wearing spandex!  We will be getting together at Pier 13 in Hoboken (https://www.facebook.com/Pier13Hoboken) on Thursday May 30th @ 7pm.  Hopefully we will get a chance to see long time GCTri member Eva Kovacs who is in town visiting from England – stop by and say hi!  To add some incentives to continue the Thursday evening tempo run, RJ will buy your first beer if you show up in sweaty athletic gear after doing the run!

Weekly Update 5/3

Another week in the books, and more accolades for GCTri members – go figure!  Congrats to Derek Barnes (2nd AG) and Shelley Palumbo for their performances at the Lincoln Tunnel Challenge.  Congrats to Erica Manning (1st AG) and Missy Manning (1st AG) for their podium finishes at the Bronx Duathlon.  Please keep posting those results on the GCTri website.  We will be well represented this weekend at Escape to the Palisades ½ Marathon (Steve Su, Mike D’Imperio, Kristine Papamichael, Matt Mustich, RJ Boergers) and NJ ½ Marathon (Nicole Ogrosso, Cheryl Tarbous, Lisa Mangino).  Good luck to Dave Pietrangelo, Kevin Portmann and Will Reagan racing Bassman.  Also, good luck to everybody’s favorite former GCTri President –Andrew Shore who will be racing IRONMAN St. George 70.3 out in Utah. Good luck to Kristin Hespos and Scott Burns racing Devilman.   Don’t forget about the GCTri picnic on Sunday May 5th at 2pm at the courtyard of 1000 Jefferson.  Please be sure to sign up on the club calendar or on facebook if you will be attending so we can purchase food.  Last weekend was gorgeous for training and it looks like this week will be the same – hopefully you can take advantage.  On Saturday Mike Haskell will be leading a ride that will leave the 14th St. Pier at 8am.  On Sunday, ride up to Palisades park with the group racing the half marathon– we will leave 14th St. Pier at 7am.  Happy Training!

April Social – Thursday 4/18

Join us at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten on Thursday April 18th at 7pm for the April social.  Come and “re-hydrate” after the Thursday evening tempo run.  It’s always great to enjoy a beer with your triathlete friends in a non spandex environment!  See you there.

Nutritional Survey

If you missed the club kickoff social this weekend then you missed our special guest Leif Arnesen with bire nutrition. We are serving as a focus group for him and will be a product testing group in the near future as he moves into the development phase. Please fill out the attached survey to help him learn more about your nutritional preferences pre-race, during, and post-race.

2013 Kickoff Social Gathering

Don’t forget to mark the 2013 GC Tri Kickoff Social on your calendars!  We will be getting together at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten in Hoboken on Saturday February 23rd from 3pm-6pm.  Come on out and meet the newly elected BOD and find out what new and exciting plans are in store this year for GC Tri.  New logo, new website – same great group of dedicated triathletes to train with!

Happy Hour

Dear Triathletes,

As the month grows to a close, it’s time for another GC Tri Club Happy Hour! I can hear the excitement. Let’s kick off the season the right way…with beer! New and old members are welcome (as is anyone else you want to drag along).

We’ve moved the Happy Hour to Thursday this month noting Thursday Morning Rides have been a little weak. I guess Friday Morning Masters Classes will be hurting a little now, but I’ll be in the pool at 6am so it won’t be a problem.

Mike Frank was able to get us a sweet deal at the Turtle Club in Hoboken. Happy Hour will be until 9pm which features $3 bottles and drafts. As I know from Saturday night, this is half off a wonderful selection of beers including one from a NJ brewery (who is our sponsor i might add).

To sum up and make it easier to copy paste in your Google or Outlook Calendar:
What: GC Tri Club April Happy Hour
Where: The Turtle Club, 936 Park Avenue, Hoboken, NJ 07030-4205 (at
Park Ave & 10th Street, mere blocks away from the 9th Ave Light Rail Station)
When: 7:30 on Thursday, 28 February 2011

See you there!
