Hello All,
GC Tri had a large contingent head up to Timberman 70.3 this past weekend with some amazing results.  Megan Wiseman won her AG earning a slot to Clearwater.  Scott Duprex had our highest overall placing finishing in 4:31.  A big thanks to Mike D for bringing home Cheryl in their first 70.3 event.  Congrats also to Jen Jones for finishing her first ever half ironman.  Everyone else finished with either a PR or made their goal times which was awesome considering the rain factor: Andrew C, Nicci, Kristin Hespos, Simon Webster, Julian, Michael Goldman, and Nicole.

Don’t forget that next week Stevens Masters switches to Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.  Because of this we will switch our track workouts from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning.  We will continue to have weekday bike rides until it becomes too cold.  Andrew will be leading the Thursday morning rides leaving at 5:40 AM from the 14th St Ferry.
Happy Training,

Track Workout

My apologies for posting this after the workout has taken place.  I will update timely and more frequently going forward…

Runners,

Tonight we are going to start our endurance training to accommodate the Fall Triathlons and Marathoners. We’ll do a couple weeks of base training then lead into build phase then speed. Sound good? Great.

MEET: 11th and Park @ 7:30pm

WARM-UP: Jog to track, stretch, strides
MAIN: 5 x 1600 on 1-minute active recovery
COOL-DOWN: Jog Home

Description: The 1600 efforts are @ 10k effort. Consistency is important so don’t blow-up on the first interval. Recovery in between intervals is a jog NOT and stop/walk. If everyone is game I would really love to take this workout off-track so we can get some varied terrain. Maybe a run up Pershing Road :)…we can talk at the track.

TOTAL DISTANCE: approx. 8 miles
TOTAL TIME: approx. 70 minutes

P.S…be nice out there tonight. My legs are shot! 🙂

Thursday Morning Ride

Hey Everyone,

We will have our usual ride departing at 540am from 14th St. Ferry.  The weather looks to be much better tomorrow morning with rain giving away overnight to clear skies.  Due to darkness, please bring a light on the ride.  We still have a large group riding in the morning so the more lights the better!

See you in the morning.

Race

Thanks to Megan for sending out the below to the group:

Hello All,
Congrats to Mike Frank for taking 39th overall and 4th in his age group at the Long Branch Tri this past weekend.  Congrats as well to Eyal for taking 17th overall and 3rd in his age group at the NY Tri Series #2.  Keep up the good work everyone!
This weekend is a big weekend of racing for GC Tri so there will be no official leader for the ride on Saturday.  I know Griffin and the Flying Dutchman will want some company though and they will be leaving the 14th St Ferry in Hoboken at 7:00 AM.

Good luck to everyone racing Timberman 70.3 this weekend!  GC Tri will be up there in full force with about 15 racers.  Look for the GC Tri Tent near the finish line to meet up with your fellow club members.
Happy Training,

Thursday Night Track

Hey Runners –

Sorry for the late email. This is the plan for this evening…tonight is low key since several of us are racing Timberman 70.3 this weekend. I will go to 11th and Park @ 7:30…My plan is to do a loop around Hoboken with 6 x 30-second strides incorporated into the run. Really nothing crazy, but anyone is welcome to join. Loosen up the legs, stretch and get the blood flowing for this weekends race.

Next week we are going to start week one “build endurance” training. Training will continue to focus on athletes with Fall triathlons + those who have marathons in the near future. Most people have a solid base right now. We will continue to build endurance and strength.

Good luck everyone this weekend!

Megan
